About

I am applying for the Deputy Manager position.
This job position offers the challenging environment I enjoy and thrive in, and it will allow me the opportunity to build further on my knowledge and experience in working in the nursery industry.
I am an open, friendly, approachable person who has the ability to connect with people, showing patience and understanding them as individuals.
I secured many good working relationships with parents, teachers and staff, as well as with children, in my career and placements.
I am a professional character who is full of passion with over 14 years experience working with children. I enjoy helping people, and I am passionate in encouraging others to overcome personal barriers and achieve what they put their mind to.

I have worked in a nursery for 5 years caring for young children, in that time I studied level 3 BTEC and NVQ in management. Gaining this qualification led to a senior role within the nursery, working as part of the management team. Working closely with the managers, I supervised four baby rooms providing professional leadership and management.
Responsibilities of my role included,  opening and closing of the nursery, sorting out staff ratios for any absent staff and requesting for bank staff if needed, parent inductions, planning settling sessions, staff evaluation meetings for all staff, organising, planning, and leading staff meetings, ensuring policy and safety practices of the children, staff, and parents within the setting. I took pleasure in assisting the managers in any tasks that needed to be done and giving input to decision making.

My qualifications in childcare studies has given me multiple experience in observing children and their development.

During my Child Nursing studies in university, I gained 6 weeks experience working in a SEND school with pupils from the ages of twelve to eighteen.
This placement required me to work one on one as well as in small groups with all the pupils. I supported children in their work with the activities that was set by the teachers, supervising meals and playtimes, and assisting to take the pupils outside around the local community.
I was enthusiastic in having opportunities to plan and set out activities based on the pupils development and individual needs.
Working on this placement gave me skills in managing children with challenging behaviour, and remaining professional when dealing with them.

In my job experiences in working with children I have increased my understanding in the importance of being a positive and leading example and respecting cultural backgrounds and diverse learning needs. In respect of this it is also important to listen to children and have an understanding of their thoughts and feelings.
I am aware of how to plan effectively to support their routine, structure, and development. I believe in providing all children with great opportunities and praising them in their achievements.

I am constantly self evaluating and working on my understanding to improve in my abilities. I am willing to take on any opportunities and training that will add to my current knowledge.
